Ministries

Truth Learning Academy has been a Christian school ministry (K-12) sponsored by Family Worship Center of Plaster Rock since 1976. Its mission is to provide parents with the means to honor their conviction and the Biblical principle of training up a child in the way it should go by utilizing a Bible based curriculum for their formal education.

School staff, overseen directly by the Pastor, endeavors to create an atmosphere where children can strive for excellence academically and spiritually free from the negative influences of secular society. Controls and procedures in the Learning Center and supervised extracurricular activity time allow students to develop character and social skills. Accountability for actions reinforces the values subscribed to by the home, school and church.

The TLA learning center offers a system of self-instructional curriculum that recognizes that God has made each individual different and that each child brings a unique combination of abilities and motivations to school, all of which affect the way he/she will learn. From the conventional classroom of Kindergarten and Grade One, Grade Two students move into the individualized Learning Center. While continuing to work a paper curriculum they begin to develop the computer skills necessary for the transition to the computerized learning experience beginning in Grade Three. This computer technology is employed to present the students with a top quality curriculum providing immediate feedback and evaluation of the student’s learning experience. Teachers are free to work with pupils one-on-one within the classroom. The option to have a home computer connected to the school server via the Internet allows students to complete homework as well as provide parents with the opportunity to stay up to date with their child’s academic progress.

Students’ academic learning is enhanced and supported by a variety of electives, Bible memorization and hands on activities such as physical education, musical instruction, field trips, and Home Economics. Weekly Chapel and Bible Classes encourage students to develop and strengthen a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and equip them for service in the Kingdom of God.
