Mostly grey skies prevailed in Sault St. Marie Ontario on the first weekend of April 2019, but the atmosphere of the Sault St. Marie church is warm and upbeat. Bro. & Sis. Andrew Goodine are doing a great job. They have learned the city very well. Not just the layout of the streets, but the culture and ways of the area as well. In addition they have gotten to know a good number of people so that it is not uncommon to see them greeting someone they have as an acquaintance, coworker or friend; quite an accomplishment for only 2 short years in a city of 75,000.
We toured the city, took in the beautiful scenery, and enjoyed some of its restaurants; but the highlight was the Sunday services at the Water Tower Inn. There was a good atmosphere in the morning service as the presence of God was evident. Bro. & Sis. Goodine do a wonderful job playing, singing and leading the congregation in to the presence of God.
The people enjoy preaching of the word and receive it with an appreciative heart. The gracious Spirit of God that was there that morning and the preached word left the saints encouraged and enlightened. The message was about God being nearer than often perceived by our humanity and thereby can be reached out to for help and guidance. This helped the people to understand that the Lord of Glory is near to save a soul from the evils of sin.
The evening service experienced an added extra touch, as the presence of God came in the room in a special way. Most were renewed and strengthened. What a service as the Holy Ghost came by in a special way. This kind of heavenly visitation is not completely uncommon but is surely welcomed as the spirit of refreshing comes by. What a joy to see folks get blessed in their soul.
In one of the pictures, you will notice, there is a couple holding hands while praying together. They have been coming for a while and enjoy the church. They have only reached out toward God a few times. To see them praying and to hear their comments afterward makes everything we do worth while, as this is what it’s all about.
The work is going very well in “the Soo” and Bro. and Sis. Goodine are always optimistic and the church is moving forward. A big THANK YOU to Pastor and FWC for the opportunity to go! Lord willing, someday soon, the church there will be able to have a more permanent place of worship, a desire all of us have. Let us continue to make this a matter of prayer.
It's REVIVAL time!
