Kept From Falling

One of the greatest misconceptions in our walk with God is believing that everything depends on us. We strive, we fight, and we worry about whether we'll have enough strength to make it. But Jude shifts our focus with one of the most hope-filled promises in Scripture: "Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling..."

Notice that Jude doesn't tell us to keep ourselves from falling. Instead, he tells us to keep ourselves in the love of God. There is a difference. Our responsibility is to stay close to Him through prayer, obedience, and surrender. His responsibility is to sustain us, strengthen us, and keep us standing when we would otherwise fall.

Maybe you've questioned whether you have what it takes to endure. Maybe the pressure has been intense, or you've watched others stumble and wondered if you'll be next. God's answer isn't, "Try harder." His answer is, "Stay close to Me."

The safest place you can be isn't where life is easy—it's where you're abiding in the love of God. The same hands that called you are strong enough to hold you. The same God who saved you is fully able to keep you.

So don't live in fear of falling. Live with confidence in the One who is holding you. If you'll keep yourself in His love, you'll discover that He has been keeping you all along.
