At a time when Pharaoh had ordered Hebrew sons to be destroyed, Jochebed refused to surrender her child to the spirit of the age. Instead, she protected him, prayed over him, and prepared him for the calling of God. She understood that what she carried was too valuable to abandon to culture, fear, or compromise. Because of her courage, the world received a deliverer.

If life has been heavy—if anxiety, discouragement, or constant noise has been wearing on you—this is where you begin. Not with having all the answers, but with a shift in focus. This psalm reminds us that we are not left to figure life out alone. There is a Shepherd who leads, restores, and walks with us—even through the valleys we’d rather avoid.

The reality is, we often count the wrong things. We count failures, mistakes, missed opportunities, and delays. We replay moments where we feel like we’ve fallen short. But God counts differently. Where we count faults, He counts mercy. Where we count time passing, He counts purpose unfolding. Where we see disqualification, He sees potential.
