Hard To Break

“And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” — Ecclesiastes 4:12
We live in a world where things seem to break more easily than ever. Appliances wear out, relationships fracture, and people find themselves overwhelmed by life's pressures. But what about our spiritual lives? How do we become people who are not so easily broken?
Spiritual strength isn't built through isolation or a single moment of victory. It's developed through the many strands of faith, prayer, relationships, and obedience that God weaves together in our lives.
We Were Never Meant To Fight Alone
Ecclesiastes 4 declares that two are better than one because when one falls, the other can lift him up.
Isolation creates vulnerability. When we attempt to face temptation, discouragement, or personal struggles alone, we become easier targets for the enemy. God designed us for connection—not simply to enjoy fellowship, but to strengthen one another when life becomes difficult. Sometimes the most important step toward healing is admitting we need help and reaching for a brother or sister who will pray with us.
Every Strand Matters
One of the most powerful truths about spiritual strength is that everything matters.
Every prayer whispered over your family. Every church service attended. Every moment spent reading God's Word. Every encouraging word spoken to someone struggling.
These may seem like small, ordinary acts, but each one adds another strand of strength to our spiritual lives.
A threefold cord is not quickly broken because its strength comes from strands woven together. Likewise, spiritual resilience develops through consistent faithfulness.
We may not immediately recognize what God is building, but those accumulated moments of obedience become the very things that help hold us together when trials come.
Don't Entertain What Wants To Break You
The story of Samson provides a sobering warning.
Samson possessed extraordinary strength, yet he repeatedly entertained the very influences seeking his destruction. His downfall didn't happen all at once. Over time, the things that made him strong were compromised. We cannot continually neglect the spiritual disciplines that sustain us and expect to remain unaffected.
Yet Samson's story also reveals hope. His hair began growing again, he returned to prayer, and God gave him strength once more.
Brokenness does not have to be the end of your story.
Stronger Together, Restored Through Him
Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted and bring deliverance to those held captive. No matter how fractured life has become, His Word still has the power to restore.
There is strength in returning to God's presence, surrounding our families with prayer, and standing together as the church.
You may feel broken as an individual, but you don't have to remain isolated in your brokenness. The prayers of others, the power of God's Word, and the presence of His Spirit can strengthen what feels ready to fall apart.
Keep praying. Keep worshipping. Keep showing up. Keep reaching for one another.
Every strand matters.
And with God's Spirit strengthening us and His people standing beside us, we can become hard to break.
